I have a broken light bulb in the backlight under the microwave, the light is out of range. The socket sits in a small recess and faces away from me. There was no glass left in the base for the potato trick, which I never tried. I unplugged the MW and tried to pry the base out with tools, but I couldn't see what I was doing due to the position and there isn't enough room in the recess to put even the smallest screwdriver where I did which could bend base enough to be able to put pliers on it. What to do? I started googling and this handy little tool popped up and I ordered it. I wasn't able to get the piece of rubber into the base at the right angle and I pushed myself so it wasn't easy but the base came loose and I was able to pull it out. Worth every penny, IMHO. I have also ordered replacement LED lights from Revain and all is well. Definitely recommend this remedy for broken lightbulbs. Has worked very well for me.
