A little TOO smart: Beard and Mustache Trimmer

I'm a simple guy. For example, I grew up before cell phones existed. While I appreciate technology, I see it as something that enhances rather than dominates. It's a good way of saying that using the technology itself can be just as distracting and tiring as not using it at all. Also, sometimes it causes its own problems. In itself, this is a competent, if not frankly good, trimmer. I like that the speed adjusts according to the thickness of the hair, which is combined with my own speed when moving the trimmer through the beard (not too fast). Beard. Working hours are paid at a little less than an hour, but I've gotten more (about 20 minutes more) in the real world. Charging is fast and it's definitely easy to clean. Without smart features I would be very satisfied. I love smart features. Some of them (like the motorized beard comb) seem a bit useless. Adjusted for tenths of a millimeter (whatever that is. Picometers? Nanometers? What?) turns out to be too accurate. As I said, I'm a simple guy and I really don't care about the length of a 9.4 mm beard. YMMV of course. The comb is detachable for trimming detail, although I wish it had a narrower head for the same detail. My existing Remington beard trimmer has two heads which I can swap out if needed, I wish it was the same. This trimmer has three programmable "profiles" that store the length of the comb on the device, so you don't have to worry about which length to use. Again, good for what it is, but I'm not sure it offers much in the real world. I remember 9mm, that's the length I use every week, so saving it as a profile doesn't do me much good. Is this technology again for the sake of technology? The physical design of the trimmer and the comb in particular is decent. I should note that this is a BEARD trimmer and not a general purpose trimmer. By this I mean that the comb will clog when you try to cut long hair. Keep it on your beard. Mustache grooming is another matter. It captures most of the mustache, but for the area just under the nose, the leading edge of the comb is SLIGHTLY longer, requiring you to attack that area from several different directions. This is a fairly common problem with trimmers in general, but a problem nonetheless. Overall I think it's a decent trimmer, but I've found that my good will is seriously tested when it comes to interacting with the device to adjust the comb length or attempting to use the smart features. It's easy to clean, easy to use, but I rarely, if ever, use the rest of the features. If only it had an MP3 player.
