I tested this unit for about a week in a ball python aquarium with a timer using both tubes. We live in a very dry region so it's difficult to retain moisture in a reptile's skin, but it helps a lot! The double hoses allow me to conduct moisture well to both sides of the case. The amount of fog is enough to raise the humidity inside the case from 25% to over 90% when we put it to full use. It also seems very consistent. There is a detachable T-piece that allows both hoses to be used simultaneously or separately. However, you cannot change the volume in each tube independently - you will get the same flow through both unless you physically change the opening of the tube in some way. The tank can be easily filled from below. There is a threaded filler plug with a plunger that moves freely but seals well when you remove the tank from the base. I recommend placing the base in a small drip tray to catch any drips and to keep a towel nearby in case of drips - this is unavoidable when removing the tank (this is not a disadvantage, just a usage tip). I also recommend a funnel to open if you don't have a steady hand! I think the hole is only about an inch. I was amazed at how quiet this unit is! The humidifier is in my son's room and is only really audible if you listen carefully when all else is quiet. During the day it is almost inaudible. There's a little yellow light to let you know it's working. I tested it for dry running and it works as expected. There is a small safety float that cuts off the power supply if it falls below a certain level. So even if it turns off, a small amount of water will remain on the ultrasonic membrane, so it will never work if it is completely dry. This is great, otherwise the ultrasonic membrane may be damaged. 2+ liters is a great capacity for our needs. We fill the tank in about a day and only use distilled water. This will prevent crystal formation, but you will still need to wipe down and flush the bottom of the tank every few weeks or months to prevent bacterial growth. The outside of the tank is easy to clean, but use a soft cloth and do not use abrasive cleaners. Having tested several other types of humidifiers designed for reptile owners, I can tell you that this is the best design. We have a similar unit that has been running every day for almost a year with no problems, while four other types failed within the first two weeks. This device has a very similar and successful design and behaves the same. The main difference is the T-adapter, which I find very useful. I plan to use the 2nd tube for the cascade function in the spring. If you're having trouble with some of the other more popular devices, try this. The volume is very easy to adjust, it has generous highs and of course it's cool so you don't have to worry about burns or mold and you'll probably never hear it under normal conditions.
