I came to buy sigma after a year of active shooting at 700d + 17-55. For a long time I was asking the price of the full frame, believing that I would not get more from the crop than I had. That is, everything went approximately within the framework set by Canon marketers. "17-55 seems like a great lens, seems to be sharp enough, well, a little flimsy, but I'm not a pro, I shoot for my own pleasure, I get excellent shots for a family album, there seems to be no reason to worry," I thought. Then, having bought a 70-200 f/4 to shoot children on walks, I realized that sharpness can be better, and for less money, too. But it’s still right, 17-55 is not an L-series, but if you want the best bright regular zoom, take a full frame, 24-70 and find a new level of happiness. All of a sudden, sigma 18-35 completely destroys this paradigm, and crop cameras take on a new life. By the way, I changed 700d to 7d just for the sake of sigma, realizing that the purchase of FF can now be postponed for a long time. Analogues for the full frame simply do not exist. In such terms, I want to compare sigma 18-35 and canon 17-55. Well, in essence, the strengths of the canon (a stub and a larger range of FR) cease to matter after the very first frame shot with one's own hand on sigma =)
