I'm not a big fan of plastic, but the bamboo I bought first tended to wobble when cut. Another big flaw is that the design doesn't allow you to completely cut the bottom of the bread without removing it from the slicer. This plastic has grooves on the bottom plate so you can get a full slice or two without having to remove the loaf to complete the cut. It actually takes up less space than bamboo and doesn't need regular oiling! All in all, I wish I had bought that first and skipped the bamboo!
