It would be nice to have a few more inches of cutting guidance - I want to cut a whole loaf without too much movement. This guide works, but only allows about two medium slices per position, which means I have to move the bread around a lot.

This works but we found that the plastic guides are not rigid enough, the cuts are crooked unless we cut very carefully not to put pressure on the guides. The opening for the first disc is also too thick. So I put my bread knife in the first slot, but the bread up to the blade of the knife, and then use the other slots to get the thickness I want.

This is a cheap device, relatively difficult to use. This is not unexpected given the price. You get what you pay for. But it's VERY important to know before you buy this slicer that the thinnest slice of bread you can make with it is just over 1/2 inch thick. The first cutting guide is set so far from the end of the slicer. This isn't for you if you like thinner bread. I'm not a big fan of plastic, but the bamboo I bought first tended to wobble when cut. Another big flaw is that the design doesn't allow you to completely cut the bottom of the bread without removing it from the slicer. This plastic has grooves on the bottom plate so you can get a full slice or two without having to remove the loaf to complete the cut. It actually takes up less space than bamboo and doesn't need regular oiling! All in all, I wish I had bought that first and skipped the bamboo!
