I used these brackets to hang a row of 72 decorative LED globe lights under my patio aluminum railing. First, the mounts are inexpensive, about 10 cents each. Constructed of polymer with a thin foam adhesive backing (thinner than typical foam tape). The finishes of my case are a combination of a slim aluminum frame and a gravel (insulated aluminum) cover mounted on the frame. I found it easy to peel the backing off the adhesive and press in place without getting my fingers on the adhesive pad. Adhesion was instant and so secure that a mount I thought must have been elsewhere was impossible to remove except with a razor blade to cut the foam off the backing and then mineral spirits to seal it remove. Instead of zip ties, I used 18 gauge insulated wire to hang my fasteners, which easily fits through the slots in the grommet. I'd be very surprised if they broke over time, but I'll come back to this review when I've had this experience with them. Note that my mounts are outdoors but protected from the sun and rain. They will be subjected to extreme temperatures of at least 60 degrees, which is a good test of durability. I suspect those who reported adhesion issues were using them on porous, dusty, or rough surfaces. All in all, this is exactly what I need for my app, a 5 star purchase.
