Very mediocre. 1/8 inch. The insoles are so thin that they only stay cold for a very short time. If you have a narrow foot, don't wrap your ankle tight enough to touch it. I had to take out 3 small inserts and use my hand to press on the broken ankle bones, which isn't very practical, but better than nothing. Hey 7 weeks is a joke, good thing I have a bigger thing. It takes more than that to apply ice to a broken ankle to reduce severe swelling. The design is crazy, the inserts are all slightly different shapes and it's like a puzzle trying to figure out which slot they fit in, some going up some going down, the coldness of the pads dissipating as you sort it. If you then put them all correctly in the correct pockets and hope the Velcro stays closed, which doesn't usually happen, there will be a large empty hole in the middle of your broken leg that won't touch the cold pad. Was anyone smoking weed when they came up with this invention?
