I bought this collar because I'm 5ft 1" and wider collars are too big for me. The collar is adjustable in length, but the female side of the velcro is cut very short. If it is not adjusted to the shortest length, then the male (rough side) velcro will be exposed. I solved the problem by using an extra velcro strap I had at home. I cut out pieces to cover the men's open velcro. This is not the best solution, but it solves the problem of the open rough Velcro. The material of the collar itself is medium hard.
