My son got them as a birthday present and it was a great success. We were able to watch the caterpillars in the calyx as they weave their cocoons and eventually emerge from them. It was a very easy project full of educational material for my curious preschooler. He thought it was the coolest when we finally released them. All but one emerged from the cocoon in turn. One of them was never able to spread its wings even though it was alive and apparently fine. We released it along with the others. I don't think it was a defective product but the fact that my little friend ripped the cocoon off the lid when the butterfly was about to come out. I recommend it to all children!
