I will review these Keep updating your review I am interested in vinyl cutting and making After 20 minutes of failing and fussing I was able to create perfect vinyl cuts The reason for the first couple of failed attempts was having Ratchet Blade selected in the SEND menu which looked like a ratchet with numbering and ruled lines. I was more surprised that initially the cameo 4 couldn't detect the installed auto blade. Then I reset to auto blade and selected SEND. The test cut failed. The blade moved when would cut it but left no mark on the vinyl then I increased the cut depth tried again this time just a little dent in the material ke ine cuts. The automatic blade that came with my Cameo 4 was set at a depth of 5. I reset them by pressing the tip while the gauge was moving to the lowest setting. Simple, reinstall the cutting tool, select the Autoknife "Vinyl Gloss" and resend. This time flawless cuts both with vinyl sheets and with the built-in roll feed. Noise Level: He hasn't collapsed and isn't trying to call for help. The cutting mechanism sounds alien, with its oscillating whining hiding behind a clumsy mechanical sound. It's particularly noisy when cutting curves, likely due to Silhouette's choice of servo/stepper motor design. Hopefully future models will be quieter, but at least you know your Cameo 4 is working properly. Silhouette Studio released a software update on October 18th. In settings I selected this to check for updates weekly. That is a good thing. As with any new device, bug fixes and enhancements are available for automatic download and installation on your computer. Check out the video I've uploaded showing the Cameo 4 in action. It's still loud, but I've noticed that it's more melodic than the gears now. Turn up the volume, an alien is calling home! Touch display: very tidy look. Just don't expect help here. From what I can see it's a backlit back cover over the 8 buttons, consisting of a pause, 6 directional arrows, and a Bluetooth/USB button indicator (blue when connected). Roll Feeding: Convenient slitting function, by feeding the vinyl roll through the cutter, you can easily and neatly use the sliding blade to cut sheets to any length you want. The few times I tried this it worked fine, but the button logic was reversed. Press down to move the vinyl forward. Firmware update: Internet access is required during the initial setup of the Cameo 4 to complete the firmware update. This worked fine with a USB cable plugged into my iMac. Design Studio: My frustration comes with upgrading to Design Studio ($25). You must upgrade further to Business Top Tier Software ($40) to export your creations to standard file formats that can be used in other programs or devices. Characteristics: There are 2 types. One for printing and cutting when the software places machine-readable marks on the page. The other is when you create a multicolored sticker. To do this, simply create a vertical and a horizontal rectangle next to the edge. The cameo will carve them. They are used to help you align different colored vinyl sheets. I've tried including just the registration marks with a normal clipping, but that fails because it's looking for the PRINT part of the print and clipping. Do not add registration marks for regular vinyl cutting. cutting vinyl. Most commonly, use Vinyl 631 and 651. Type 651 is a solvent-based adhesive that is considered permanent. 631 removable with a less glossy finish. Neither 631 nor 651 is listed in the Material Type drop-down list in Silhouette Studio. Instead, it's Vinyl Shinny and a few other varieties. Trial and error is required here. I have shown in the photos how I tried to "weed" the small print cutouts. They were 70 points high, or about half an inch. I've experimented with different settings. On the fourth try, I was able to carefully remove the surrounding vinyl. Note. Always check the media settings before cutting. The Materials drop-down list is set to CARDS by default. This needs to be changed to cut other types of food. November software update. This update installs software that allows you to use the new Cameo 4 cutting knives. The Design Studio license is a rip off. Maybe it's time to remove the star. I've bought from design studio to business level. I purchased the objects and the associated .svg files. Today I need to export to another program so I can submit the file for sublimation printing. However, the objects I have purchased and designed will not be exported. WHICH silhouette? I can export to PNG or JPEG, but the color profile doesn't match the final drawing. See the screenshot.
