The metallic black trim began to wear off, leaving bright white spots when I put it on for the first time. I just tried painting it in pure black to hide it. Apparently the white is some kind of acrylic paint and it came from the alcohol in the paint. The belt can still be worn but cannot be dyed. Also, it's a weird leathery fibrous material that will most likely fall apart if I try to restore it with real leather conditioner and paint.
