Review on Taylor Cable 79614 - High-performance Blue 🔵 Ignition Wire Set for Vehicles with LS Truck Headers by Kevin Flores

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits a 2005 Silverado 5.3L but does not use factory metal heat shields to match factory wiring

L. Just changed the factory spark plugs and wiring (164,000 miles on it). There were no problems with them, I just finally accepted that they are getting old. Installed NGK Iridium. I noticed that they differ from the factory wires in many ways. First, they are much thicker. I don't have wire supports so no problem. They are about a foot long and connect the plug and coil just above the plug. I've noticed that the factory wires have long straight pins and long pins a few inches long that fit into the metal shield. These are low profile boots, much thicker and more angular. They are square in shape to allow you to squeeze into the area where the plug and port are located. In my case, some anthers are touching the exhaust manifold bolts. Others touch nothing. So the jury will be out on whether they melt or not. Perhaps the factory installed the screens because their very thin cables needed as much help as possible. However, my AC Delcos have held up great and I might have considered sticking with them if they weren't so expensive. Let's see if all this hype is worth it. They look great on the engine. The box says they're made in the USA, so that's a plus. The only downside I had was a bit of trouble getting them on the forks. I used regular dielectric grease in the terminals on both ends of the cable and on the spark plug. They click well when in place. All I had to do was move and turn for it to happen. Straight boots with factory wires came loose easier when twisting and pulling. As long as everything goes smoothly.
