This is a factory replacement for the American Standard Cadet 3 1.6 gallon toilet flush valve. Mine lasted about ten years and the rubber gasket was starting to deteriorate as were the washers between the tank and bowl. It was easy to install. Just follow the instructions and when you get the hang of it, stock up on a tank to bowl junction kit with new washers and a tank to bowl gasket. One trick I've learned with this toilet over the years is that 1.6 gallons don't always provide an even flush. Approximately 1 in 3 flushes will require a second flush, even at maximum water level in the filler neck. My solution: Simply pizzy. Simply take a 3/4" PVC sleeve, slide it over the top of the fill tube, raise the float valve about 0.75" and add another 1 to 1.5 liters of water to the tank. Works like clockwork. Powerful flashes without problems. Sure, it uses a little more water, but probably saves in the long run by eliminating the need for a final rinse.
