Looks exactly like a Stihl EDT 9 which comes with a short 6" cable that acts as a wireless "antenna" functions and picks up the RPM of the chainsaw when the antenna is held 4-8 inches from the spark plug. The hardline tach comes with a longer piece of wire that needs to be wrapped around the connector, so I cut 6 inches off the long wire and plugged that short section into the tach. This made it possible to achieve truly wireless RPM measurements while holding a homemade antenna. Centimeters away from the Echo SRM-210 weed trimmer and the Stihl MS-250 chainsaw. Hardline doesn't seem to be promoting this feature, perhaps because it only works with certain types of hardware and presumably tends to show erratic readings when I was ready to buy a Stihl EDT 9 but chose Hardline because Revain deliver it to me faster could. It wasn't until I got the Hardline that I noticed the case looked exactly like the EDT 9, so I accidentally saved $50. A cheap tachometer probably saved me a lot of money since I avoid a Stihl service center to have my MS 250. The chainsaw instruction manual is vague about how to properly set the idle speed without a tachometer, it's simple.It also assumes that the idle speed screw (throttle stop) and low carburetor setting are already correctly set at the factory. There are some key service manual steps that require a tachometer when adjusting the idle speed and the forward and reverse mixture settings to ensure they are set correctly together. Thanks to the hardline tachometer and service manual, I got my chainsaw perfectly timed in half the time it took me to drive to and from the dealer.
