Be prepared to drop and move the pad after each shot! There are no holes to properly attach the pad to the ground. Every time I hit the pad with my stick, it would gather into a heap and fly forward. Apparently one can only slightly scratch the surface, which is unsatisfactory IMHO. I didn't hit deep enough to mimic a pothole, but I tried to "slip on the surface during the swing to accurately gauge the plane of the swing." The base you use needs to be very specific, but I haven't found that for myself yet. Suffice it to say that when you buy this product you will need to pierce the gasket in each corner and then secure it with some sort of spike. I will try metal spikes for a small diameter tent. They are in the shape of a tall, skinny "L" and are about 8 inches long. I don't recommend this product but hopefully this gives you some ideas to help you overcome its shortcomings.
