The diameter and length of this starter is slightly smaller than the OEM starter which makes it easier to install, but there are fewer copper windings in the core so it is not as powerful and difficult to use turn lq4 6.0L which was replaced by my avalanche. Basically I just bought it for a new solenoid because the retail price for a starter is around $130-$300. My original starter worked fine, I just had a bad magnet so I replaced that starter magnet with my original starter and it turns a little easier than with this smaller starter.
