The 2 inch pad is great for preventing foot pain. Features a soft, comfortable vinyl sleeve that won't tear. It's way better than the expensive but cheap ½ inch thick padded toilet seats you can buy with hard vinyl that rips in weeks and barely fills the seat. I had to buy new soft toilet seats every 2 months. I would caulk the cracks first but the sticky edges of the white vent tape definitely wasn't a hygienic toilet idea. And every time it gets $30+ more expensive. The only issue I have with the gasket is that the toilet seat lid won't come off due to its 2" thickness. This is a double problem. 1. When flushing, everything splashes (unseen) at least 4 feet high. Search the internet, you will no longer leave behind toothbrushes or the like when you flush. 2. Looks disgusting without a lid. It's a shame when I have company. I half solved this problem by removing the lid from my cracked vinyl toilet seat. I use it to close the toilet when I'm flushing and when not in use. Because I have a "self-closing toilet lid" it curves inward. Surprisingly, the old soft lid fits the lid perfectly. So when I lean back, I lean on the soft part of the old lid. The rigid top of an old lid is sitting in my toilet lid. But she still looks cool. I really wish the pad came with a simple thin plastic cap when not in use and while flushing. It looks and will be more hygienic with a simple, thin, removable plastic lid that covers the entire 2-inch gasket that goes all the way to the toilet.
