Review on πŸ’§ Reliable Liberty Pumps SJ10 SumpJet Water Powered Back-Up Pump for Effective Backup - Gray by Tim Paolucci

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I don't know why I avoided this purchase for so long!

GPM kept me from buying one of these for years. It wasn't until my main sump broke down during a thunderstorm that I quickly realized that manual skimming with a bucket in a situation like this couldn't even remotely match a pump failure. A battery powered backup pump kit from a well known hardware store which was great as it came with a 3 year guarantee! But I soon realized after only a year and 3 months that the backup pump was not the same as the main pump and the pump mount is very flush with the bottom of the unit which inevitably corrodes over time which really voids the warranty worthless. in my opinion. After all, what good is a backup pump that doesn't work if it's not used for a year? Just steps away from this Liberty Sump Jet! I know well how to make tubing with copper, but this was my first experience with Plexiglas tubing. As long as the PEX tubing is cut straight, shark quick disconnects are no problem! Walls bent 90 degrees and connected with a spigot so I could fill the test pit with tap water at any time (great ability to think ahead as I've had so many outages lately). yo!) On the lower end near the bottom I sweated from there into the sump inlet at the copper notch for the PEX fittings. Under my airtight radon swamp dome that I bought for radon reduction. I ended up using a handy 4 bolt sump with a couple of longer threaded bolts with lock washers and nuts on the bottom. I cut a small piece of 3" PVC. Use it as a support spacer between the top of the sump nozzle and the bottom of the sump cover so I can keep the sump nozzle slightly lower and not completely flush with the bottom of the sump dome cover for my needs. That was it great!Hidden.I followed the instructions and installed a reliable double check valve to prevent the sump water from flowing back into our house plumbing. The Pex quick connector was perfect for the drain nozzle to install the blue Pex pipe and I liked it so much I got another one if I ever need to shut off the water supply from the sump nozzle for a sump pump service.I did NOT install the PVC Y-piece by myself as I didn't want the power of the water flow from my main sump pump is being returned to the sump jet, which I have found to be detrimental to its effectiveness would like to. Again, this was done as instructed. Completely separate injection line behind my house. Now I only have 2 sump hoses coming out of my house instead of one and they are next to each other. Slowly turning on the check valve I installed within 6 feet of the sump jet was convenient and allowed me to flow water into the sump. Jet, removing as much air as possible before testing, as suggested by the company. I only heard a brief air bubble/impact sound while filling the sump for the full test. Surprisingly downgraded very quickly which will keep my basement dry for years! Feels very solidly built and runs quietly, although I can hear the water flowing through the copper pipe itself. I have not yet installed the hydraulic breaker as suggested but intend to do so as soon as possible. Time will tell now, but my nerves are already giving a much-needed rest that I can't appreciate the price for. Thank you for a great quality product!
