pocket not quite deep, hairy feeling

I was so excited to read the reviews these were really deep flannel sheets. I've only washed it once following the instructions for the flannel sheets and now they don't cover the sides of the mattress and don't pull the last corner of the mattress all the way up (stretchy). We've had many sets of flannel sheets and love the feel, but they "feel" like soft hair, which we really don't like. It may get softer with more washes.
