Tried to interest the cat in carrying. I left him at the foot of the bed so he could get used to him and not feel threatened. I carefully placed him in the carrier, talked to him the whole time and gave him pets along the way. What I didn't do was close the hole wide enough for his head. As soon as he heard the zipper close, he spurted through the head hole and ducked under the bed. It took several hours to get him out from under the bed. If he even sees the bearer now, he will run away.
