I've long dreamed of getting a 34-inch curved ultra-wide display with WQHD resolution. I've used two 24-inch displays in the past, and while I need the extra space, having two separate monitors can sometimes be impractical. All the extra cables don't help either. I got my first 29 inch ultra wide display and really enjoyed having one monitor for all my screens. 29 inches is good, but not quite the same as two monitors. A 34 inch screen is perfect for me because it's like two monitors in one. Of course, with a screen this big, the curvature allows for a much better view around the edges with minimal strain on the neck. And the 3440 x 1440 resolution is important because the standard 2540 x 1080 resolution on an ultra-wide 34-inch display has no real advantage over a 29-inch display. This monitor meets my basic needs. The size and resolution are correct, it's curved, has HDMI ports, supports FreeSync and has a higher refresh rate (100Hz.) It comes in a HUGE box and is well packaged except nothing protects the display from scratches in transit It's in styrofoam packaging and everything is protected, but usually the display is covered with a blank sheet of film. I found it funny given the huge size of the monitor. The installation is not a problem. The included stand is very stable and allows you to adjust the tilt and height. The monitor comes with a power cord, a USB-C cable, and an HDMI cable. It also supports DisplayPort. The first problem is that there is only one HDMI port. I really think they could benefit from placing two HDMI ports on the monitor in this way. If you want to connect two different devices to the same monitor via HDMI, you don't have to manually switch the cable between your devices. Another problem is that the monitor does not have built-in speakers. It has a built in headphone jack (3.5mm jack) but no speakers and at this price point they could afford to put built in speakers in the display. Why a USB-C connector? Because the monitor actually has a built-in docking function. Connecting a USB-C cable to a laptop makes it easier to use the monitor as an external display and then adds 3 standard USB 3.0 ports. You also get a LAN port where you can connect a wired Ethernet cable. Oh, and the USB-C connection supports 90W laptop charging. Back? You can only use the 3 USB ports when using a USB-C connection. And if you're using a USB-C connection, the monitor wants to use the USB-C connection for video output instead of an HDMI or DisplayPort connection. This can cause problems if you have a gaming laptop that uses an HDMI port with a dedicated graphics card, but uses integrated graphics with a USB-C port. They had to find a way to allow you to use the extra ports without using the dock feature. The image on the monitor is good, and there are options to adjust it to reduce blue light. You can also enable picture-in-picture mode if you want to see two different image sources on the same monitor. The display control is a five-position switch consisting of four buttons and another circular button in the middle. The button placement is awkward and takes time to get used to. My old LG monitor had a single joystick button in the same area, which was a bit easier to use. The implementation on this Samsung monitor takes a little getting used to, but works well once you get the hang of it. FreeSync is great and Windows 10 also supports HDR with this display if you want to use it. The curve makes this display easy to see. With a display that wide, if the outer edges curve toward you, you put less strain on your neck. I really like this monitor. I haven't had any problems with that. It works like a charm for me. The only things I'd really like to see are built-in speakers and the ability to use the USB ports as a hub even if you're not using a USB-C connection. Also, the display had to have more than one HDMI port. Those issues aside, this monitor was great and worth the fuss.
