My house was built in 1988 and the full tub and shower we both had became difficult to turn on and off with the tub suddenly becoming too small. drops. I bought two of these, one for each of the two bathrooms, and they worked perfectly. Showers and full baths are now ridiculously easy to turn on and off, adjust etc. Easy to install - remove handle and finish, remove bracket with a small flat head or long jawed pliers, use an ejector tool or adjustable pliers to remove the old one Pry out the cartridge and then insert a new one (I would recommend applying some silicone grease). The handle/shower/tub pulls out *and* rotates, it's 1225 (1220 is an older version and can be replaced with 1225). If your sink/shower/bathtub handle *just* turns, it's 1222.
