This is a sweater or raincoat fastener designed for use on suits. It really can be used as a decoration for almost anything. Dark pewter metal. You can definitely tell that it is costume jewelry. The design of this pin is pretty simple - 2 wings with 2 chains, yes it has one flaw - at least I have one. When the wings are vertical, the chain is positioned on the wings so that it gets tangled and doesn't lie flat. I think most people would plan to use it right side up. The chains only sit correctly and hang smoothly if both wings are swapped around. I've added photos to show what I mean. In addition, the rings that hold the chains were closed very carelessly. Instead of being a circle, they're squashed together messily and the ends don't match, making them look colorful. Could be improved.
