Our boa loves this thing, it's really warm not hot. Our boa constrictor loves it, she likes to put her head on it, otherwise she wraps herself over it. It's nice to see him happy. This stone is suitable for a large snake, measuring approximately 12 x 7 inches and is suitable for a boa constrictor or python up to 3 or 4 feet. The instructions say it's for the aquarium only but our boa is in a giant chicken wire cage so we put the stone on a smooth marble slab as it's not recommended to put this stone on wood or flammable surfaces though this thing that never does. . hot, better safe than sorry. This stone only consumes 10-15W, which is more economical than a 250W heat lamp. Although it's recommended that you don't use this as the only source of heat for your pets, especially if you have a snake, you can also use a heating pad in another part of the tank that will encourage your pet to move around in their terrarium. and make him/her more comfortable, this warming combination will help your pet digest prey and keep him/her active and happy. :)
