I recently moved here to Florida and we can get lots of light. I recently installed surge protectors for my whole house but decided it was better to have some protection for my cable internet/TV. I decided to purchase about 2 weeks ago and today we had a lightning strike nearby and the power went out for a brief second. When everything restarted, I still didn't have wired internet, so I finally decided to replace the tiny gas fuse in it. The access connector to this surge protector simply unscrews and the fuse can fall out. Luckily I also bought some extra gas fuses (about $6) and put a new fuse in the surge protector. I have my internet back! I feel like this gas fuse helps keep potentially damaging current from leaking back down the coax into my expensive electronics. Just be sure to stock up on a few spare gas fuses so you can quickly get back to work if one blows.
