This USB port looks nice in my '08 4Runner. It was very easy to install on the center console of my SR5 4Runner where there are a few empty slots for the switches. The panel slides out very easily. This can be seen in several online videos. The USB ports are plugged right in, and I connected them to a 12V power line right in front. Please note that on this truck, the 12V socket cover serves as a switch to turn on the socket. Connect it before the switch so that it is powered separately. On my truck, the brown was hot. Red on USB fades to brown. Tools needed include a multimeter for testing wires, connectors, wire strippers, pliers, any connectors you plan to use, and electrical tape. Be careful to keep the bare wires separate when you turn it on to test. I was lazy and accidentally crossed bare wires which cost me a 15 amp fuse. After replacing the fuse and tweaking the connections, everything was great. Yes, it shines and my dashboard turns matte black. Yes, it has blue LEDs and if I don't like them I can always drive through them sharply.
