I was looking for a replacement for my high quality YouTube video recording webcam. I wanted something high quality but didn't want to pay for modern technology. For the price, the quality is worth it, but I would NOT recommend it for people who want to take selfie videos. To simply break it down into pros and cons: Pros: *Great price *Great video quality *Acceptable internal microphone *Interchangeable lenses Cons: *Overheating: After capturing around 20 minutes of footage, this camera tends to overheat *Poor battery /SD placement Note : The battery/SD slots are so close to the tripod mount that it is not possible to change batteries or SD cards without removing them from the tripod. In addition, there is no second tripod hole to stabilize the tripod shoe. So when you put it back on the tripod, it's in a different position each time * You can only check the battery if you have an SD card inserted, the only way to check battery life is when it's almost empty to go to the To switch picture / video view and you can't access it without SD card Use the camera professionally so that it gets a lot of use. When a battery dies it can be replaced, but I can't do that due to the slot placement previously stated * No front LED indicator for video: When you take pictures with the timer, the LED flashes but there is no light for video, no indication of recording, no indication of low battery, no indication of time limit reached, no indication of starting to overheat * Time limit for video is set to 20 minutes. This is reasonable, but the previous point of the LED makes this a problem. Many times I had a deadline and spoke to a camera for over 5 minutes that went offline due to a time limit. However, from experience I have several separate lights when using it. This is a plus for me, a minus for many others. In short, if you're considering this camera you're probably trying to save some money, but you'll save yourself a headache in the long run. This camera might be fine for other uses, but for my specific use it's not worth it. You may also be wondering why I use this type of camera for video recording instead of a good webcam or camcorder. I looked at DSLRs because they have the best lenses and are much better at capturing light and therefore better quality. I chose this because I wanted to spend less. Is this an update from what I was using before? definitely, but I probably should have spent a few hundred more for something better. Obviously this model has cut some corners to offer its sleek design.
