Review on Trailer Waterproof Submersible Utility Trailer by Tim Hodzic

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great kit for the money but some weaknesses

The kit is worth the price and has everything you need to make the lights work, but you need additional parts to make the whole system waterproof . The headlights themselves are the best part of the kit. They can be submerged in water, although open to drain condensate. The LEDs themselves and the wiring are sealed. The wires are long enough for a medium sized trailer and have a Y configuration for the brown wire so you have a left side brown wire and a right side brown wire fed from the same pin of the 4 pin connector . Wires 18 AWG. Good quality clamps. Wire faucets are suitable for a regular trailer but are not recommended for boats or PWC trailers as they are not water resistant and the copper wires will corrode once moisture gets into the faucet. To make my wiring truly waterproof, I had to use silicone-filled wire nuts, additional silicone paste, and liquid tape to seal all connections, including the ground wiring. By the way, all lights have a ground wire that you need to add plugs to or attach a bare wire to the trailer frame. The weird thing is that my headlights came with a gray wire to ground and the parking lights had yellow wires instead of brown. Not critical, but confusing at first. All things considered, I spent another $10-20 on extra parts to protect my connections enough to submerge the whole thing in seawater and it wouldn't rust for weeks.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
