I bought this base with a mortise hinge lock guide. I was hoping to make grooves for tenon joinery. Management is really disappointing. The first problem is that the base mount is cumbersome to set up. Possible but difficult. It takes a lot of guesswork to properly connect it to your router. A large router base can be useful in some cases, but adding a large router base can be easily done with 1/4 inch thick scraps of plywood. Do not cut the groove at the end of the board (where grooves are usually cut) as the pin will reach the end of the board before the knife. Once you add a slot mount, the entire device becomes heavy, bulky, and uncomfortable. For use. It is not possible to cut a groove in the end of a loose mortise and tenon joint. Well I think you can if you make another jig to hold the work piece. Creating a template to use a template? There are also no stop blocks for precise post-groove cuts. It might be a smart idea to add stop blocks, but that would be frustrating. The micro adjuster on the base plate works fine but you need a wrench to lock and unlock to use it. A thumbscrew closure would be much more convenient. The micro-adjuster on the mortise works well too, but there's no macro adjustment, so changing the hole size with just a micro-adjustment is a hassle. There are various screw holes on the base for attaching the mortise guide jaws, but this is all trial and error. to find the right ones for your application. You will need to remove the cutter from the base to attach the insert guide jaws. Randomly select two sets of cam mounting holes, change the router bit on the base, slowly resize the guide with the micro adjuster to see if it suits your application if the cams on the guide don't give you the correct hole size give what you need to repeat the above. The device is designed to make your life easier. I just didn't need this disappointment. We bring it back to Revane. The manufacturer has a video showing all the ways to use this base mount and attachments. However, it's all computer-animated, showing that it all easily adds up. I guess they don't want to show you the frustration of having to deal with reality. I ended up building a simple mortise jig with guide stops from scrap plywood. It took about 30 minutes and didn't cost me anything.
