Review on πŸ”ͺ Tormek SVH-320 Precision Planer Blade Sharpener: Effortlessly Sharpen Any Length Blade with This Versatile Planer/Jointer Blade Sharpening Jig by Bryan Orozco

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Absolutely normal. Can not complain. However, the instructions may be a bit outdated.

I remember sharpening for this review over a month ago so I'm a little unsure of the details. I do remember, however, that the instructions said that to sharpen blades over 10 inches (I think it was 10), I had to move the blade in the jig. My dressing blades are 12" and I didn't have to move the blade in the jig. I had some nasty nicks on my blades. Each blade required multiple passes with multiple stone grindings between each pass. It worked. When I was done I was concerned that the blades could have different weights.. My postal scale had an accuracy of only 5 grams, so I bought a digital scale to weigh the American scale AWS-600-BLK with an accuracy of 0.1 grams and a calibration weight. It turned out found all the blades were less than a gram apart. Pretty good. I've been using sharpened blades for over a month. No problems. Remember that aligning dresser knives can take longer than sharpening. It's kind of a test, but it's not the fault of the jig.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required
