This stimulates my cat a lot more than I thought it would. The constant change in ball direction and the red LED dot really keeps my cat entertained. The ball is supposed to be used only on hard flooring or low pile carpet for battery life. Although the ball definitely doesn't last upwards of 4 hours as claimed, it lasts plenty long before I can tell it's slowing down. It's okay, though, since cats have limited attention spans and generally move onto the next toy with 20 minutes. However, kitty loves every single minute of it!
