Review on Instapark Leakage Detection Sensor Battery by John Douglas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works fantastic with slight modifications

Our basement developed cracks that we didn't realize were causing massive damage. We have since repaired these sections, but we still have a section that is leaking from excessively heavy rain that we are still working on. I wanted to be able to detect water ingress _instantly_ to avoid damage. Placing the sensor in a plastic holder means you must have a water depth of 1/16 inch or more before the contacts come in contact with the water and disable the sensor. In my case, this would already be enough to cause damage. The "hack" is to take a small piece of paper towel and slide it between the pins in the small plastic holder so that the paper towel touches the ground when you place the sensor. Thus, the paper towel absorbs all of the water and triggers the sensors. We recently had heavy rains and the sensor (plus mod) worked PERFECTLY. The sensor triggered as soon as the water got in and I was able to dismount and prevent damage. I highly recommend this sensor if you have a similar situation. I deducted a star as you need to make a change to make it work with lower water levels.

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Nothing
