Great for expanding the availability of SATA ports

This add-on card is great for adding four more SATA ports. I give it one star because the maximum data throughput with the PCIe 3.0 x1 interface is 1 GB/s. Adding two SATA 3 SSDs can saturate this connection at the maximum transfer rate, which means that any additional drives added will result in a decrease in the peak performance of all drives. Theoretically, four SATA 3 SSDs would be limited to 250 MB/s each. In most cases this is probably not a problem unless you are doing very large reads and writes.
