Review on Optimized Fairtex SP5 Muay Thai Shin Guards - Black, Blue, Yellow, Red by Robert Sorrells

Why. Is. This. So. Big?

See there are much better Thai fighters than me who are great with these shins. You see them everywhere. But look at the photo. Right: Vehement XL shin guards. I'm 6ft 190lbs and they cover my shins perfectly, fit well but unfortunately the company no longer exists. On the left is a large Fairtex SP5 and puts the Vehement in the shade. It's huge. It feels like a couch is tied to my lower leg. They are so huge they don't even fit in my gym bag. This is no exaggeration. They literally don't fit in my huge holdall that I've been using for years. I've been doing muay thai for over ten years. I've never seen so many questions about shin guard design that made me try to find a new pair in 2019. I don't know who came up with the idea that you have to cover your whole foot in shin pads and that Thai fighters want to stomp around the gym like a giant cartoon duck, but they need a cup of tea and sleep. At some point in the genesis of this cruelty, you have to stop and wonder if you've adequately protected the shin. Common sense is dead on planet earth and I can't take it.
