Shields suitable for Abrams tanks

I've had these shields for about a year and a half now and they look just like the day I got them in the mail. No kidding, these things can be abused all the time. The padding is thick, which your sparring partners will surely appreciate. The straps and velcro are strong and show no signs of wear or use. I am very impressed with the quality of these pads and don't expect to need to replace them any time soon.

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Expensive

For mixed martial arts it is best to use shin guards.

I do MMA and Muay Thai. For muay thai I use king top pads. However, for MMA I prefer the Fairtex SP5. The reason for this is that the defense it offers is at the same time very light and doesn't get in the way of a power double or a takedown that requires me to duck. If you are reading this review and need MMA shin guards, buy the Fairtex SP5. Don't waste money on brand advertising or cheap gear. Think of quality gear as an investment in your hobby, and most importantly, in your health.

Pros
  • Hard wearing finish

Pretty solid shin guards

I really like these shin guards. The brand was recommended to me by my Muay Thai trainer and I'm glad I chose Fairtex. They fit really well (I'm 5'2 and I'm short) and I can hit and block pretty hard with them, but I don't wear them when training with a bag. The only thing is my trainer mentioned that sometimes Fairtext shields come with some kind of coating that causes a slight allergic reaction when wearing it, but that hasn't happened to me. I have no complaints about these guards and I…

Ideal for sizes 5' to 9' and 5' to 10'!

I had shin guards but they are too bulky and heavy. I then tried Tanpeki Hayabusa pads and they don't offer enough cushioning. (but good for shin prep). Then I bought a pair of Windy signs, but I bought a size too big. So I bought a pair of these medium sized pads and they fit perfectly! Kicking the head is much easier because they are lighter. And they form better around my leg. Just make sure you pull them all the way down as they can rotate a little when sparring hard. Happy tipping!

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Good but not great

Excellent shields with 1 problem

Gorgeous guards! They are light, they are made and covered with excellent materials, they are comfortable, they do not impede movement in any way and cover not only the lower leg but also the sides of the leg. Still, I have to give 4 stars. because the lower bandage scratches the skin of the ankle quite badly when sparring. I RECOMMEND these shin guards if you have the money for them, but my advice is not to wear them without ankle guards/guards or you will severely damage your skin while…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥

  • There are other interesting options.

Be sure to buy the right size!

This came fairly quickly and we were disappointed that the size was a bit too small. This was the first time I've bought it and I wasn't sure exactly how tall my son is, especially since he's grown so quickly! He is 14 years old and currently 5ft 5in tall. So I definitely had to send it back and order a size up. Which was disappointing as we just needed it for his training. He uses credits when he's at his gym, but sometimes he doesn't get what he always has. Pretty upset but now we have to…

Why. Is. This. So. Big?

See there are much better Thai fighters than me who are great with these shins. You see them everywhere. But look at the photo. Right: Vehement XL shin guards. I'm 6ft 190lbs and they cover my shins perfectly, fit well but unfortunately the company no longer exists. On the left is a large Fairtex SP5 and puts the Vehement in the shade. It's huge. It feels like a couch is tied to my lower leg. They are so huge they don't even fit in my gym bag. This is no exaggeration. They literally don't fit…
