I really *love* this portable easel! I love how it adjusts from easel height. to the angle of the easel surface. to configure the partitions inside the box. The box itself is a great feature as I can keep my reading glasses, clip-on portable flashlight and other essentials close at hand. who work on paper instead of canvas or with very small or oddly shaped canvases. I work a lot with sheets of paper that are larger than the surface of the easel, and the adjustable top and bottom tabs keep the drawing board in place easily. smearing oil pastels vigorously), and I found the screws held the easel in place remarkably! The easel has not yet broken under my insults. It takes a steady hand to tighten the screws, but not so much that it's difficult to loosen when I'm ready to close the easel to put it away. The grip feels a bit flimsy; It's not broken or anything, but I've only been using the easel for about a month and don't carry it by the handle very often. The closures, on the other hand, make a solid impression. The palette that comes with the easel is made out of fairly thin plywood and I find it hinders me more than it helps. To put a palette in a box, it has to sit *on* the screws that you use to adjust and secure the corner of the easel, and therefore you have to remove the palette from the box every time you set it up or close the Easel whether you need a palette or not. I ended up just removing the palette entirely, as the box has enough space to store single-use palette paper (like Royal & Langnickel, which you can find here at Revain). Yes ok single use paper is more wasteful but I find it much more convenient as I can then just set the easel up without fumbling around in the box every time as I often work with media that doesn't require a palette. If you usually work with oil or acrylic paints, your mileage will likely be very different from mine. I now use this easel for most of my work, even if I'm just coloring in a coloring book to relax! The only types of work I don't currently do on an easel are really wet techniques like some watercolors - material that will drip if not laid flat. Otherwise, I use my easel for everything! I originally made this purchase because I was hunched over my desk at work and pinched a nerve in my neck, which in turn was causing a lot of pain. and physical therapists who told me I had to find another way to work or give up the art altogether! Thanks to this easel I can now work in a healthy posture and no longer have neck, back or headaches when hunched over my work. It's not a *literal* lifesaver, but it feels like it at times, as it's allowed me to continue being creative without hurting myself. Yes. I love this easel.
