Review on Matfer Bourgeat 310407 Black Sheets by Melissa Anderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A well made skillet with no frills

Don't you like it when just two opinions are opposite? I'll try to detail what I like about this product so those who read it can make an informed decision. This baking sheet is NOT a nice shiny piece of aluminum in a nice box. This is a round piece of steel with a protrusion of about 1/2 inch. It's very dense, just what I need for cooking in my microwave/convection oven. The edge is polished and the steel surface is smooth, although I did have marks that I believe are from surface heating during the manufacturing process. When I received mine (after reading the previous review and comments) I soaked the sticker on the BACK of the pan with Goo Gone and left it in place. I then washed the whole pan with soapy water like every other pan I've bought and applied a light coat of sunflower oil. Voila! Pretty shiny pan, heavy enough to keep some heat off my stupid microwave that wants to be convection. Who should buy this product? Anyone looking for a solid record that retains some heat, who cares about what the product can do, not necessarily how it's packaged. That is exactly what is being advertised. Who shouldn't buy this frying pan? Anyone always in search of branded, beautifully packaged, shiny-shiny-shiny products where looks are everything, or anyone looking for an easy-care frying pan. One last thing, mine came in a sealed plastic bag, carefully wrapped in bubble wrap, no markings or anything but well protected and totally undamaged.

Pros
  • For baking custom cakes and layers
Cons
  • Good but not great
