Setup was a little tricky. The quick setup mode wasn't working which could be due to a number of factors from my Xfinity WAP to the high number of WiFi signals in my building causing problems with other systems. Entering the secondary setup mode with slow blinking and connecting to the device's ad hoc network finally made the connection. I wanted Alexa to be able to control the built-in AC, which is the only cooling for my apartment. I was shocked to find a device from another manufacturer in the device list and everything seemed to work right away. The SmartLife app that acts as the controls for this blaster only works in metric units, so the controls within the SmartLife app itself are only in Celsius with no Fahrenheit option to choose from. It also changes the device's front panel display to units of Celsius when sending a signal in this format. However, Alexa does the conversion for you. The Alexa app shows the app screen on my mobile device in my preferred Fahrenheit, and when I ask Alexa for the temperature, she does the conversion for me and sends the command. For example I can say "Alexa, set AC to 70Β°", she will convert to the nearest Β°C, send a command, convert back to Β°F and reply "AC is set to 69.8". For the price I'm satisfied.
