Over the years I have used many products to warm the various reptiles I keep. One of the most effective ways to heat a space for an enclosure is to use a heat lamp or radiant heater. When using a heating pad/radiator, it is imperative that you protect the animals from direct contact with the heat source. I usually build my own heat shields, but with the cost of materials escalating I decided to try a pre-made one. This one is built pretty well, looks sturdy and should work just fine. The only downside I find is where the seam of the material that makes up the body connects. The ends were not cut flush, leaving small pieces of wire protruding which can cause injury to the animals when exploring and examining the heat housing. This is easily fixed by bending the pliers inwards or cutting them off with wire cutters. That minor issue aside, I'm very impressed with the sturdy feel of this thermal case. To update. I ordered a second one and it's not as well made as the first. There are a few grille offsets and a spot where there is a #2 pencil sized hole. It wouldn't be a big problem, but it's pretty uneven. I have to cut it with wire cutters and use a file to smooth the edges.
