Review on EXCel GM85410 Ring Pinion 4 10 by Jason Khadka

Bought this ring gear and pinion kit to reinstall my GM 8.5 with 10 bolts. Bought because of the price and three 5 star reviews. Just got it from the store, the mechanic said it has a good pattern but the sound is a bit harsh. He told me there was nothing wrong with it, it just didn't have the high quality finishes of other expensive brands which makes for noisier hardware, but it can fail after a break-in period. After 30 km drive to the house everything is fine. I felt a slight vibration and a more moderate vibration when spinning. Everything was done right with the right supplement for my carrier. I hope that after the gearbox has been run in, the vibration will subside. Aside from that, the gear set they sent didn't match the pretty picture listed as the product. The set of gears I received was a darker metal with tons of oil and another glue-like plastic stuck to some of the gear teeth. That's why I only gave this product 2 stars. Delivery was quick and easy. I will update this review once the break-in process is complete. Update 1: I've driven 150 miles and the ring and gear fell off a bit, it's imperceptible. Now I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because the kit I received didn't look like the picture. I ordered 4.10 for gm 8.5. Hope this honest review helps. Update 2-6k km, no sound, no vibration. So far, so good!
