They have a sealed bearing in the handle assembly that you don't want to get wet. Hand wash and dry is ok. At least one person has mentioned that this thing releases metal shavings into food. The dishwasher can cause this by damaging and chipping the coating. The same can happen with Kitchen Aid mixer paddles. Your plastic/polymer coated racquets are dishwasher safe.
