I was having misfire in cylinder #6 and low compression in cylinder #4 on my 2000 Ford Ranger. The local dealer quoted me a price of $300 for an estimate and possibly $1,500 for the engine work. I declined and did my own research. It turned out that the spark plug wires were very close to the manifold and the insulation cracked after about 15,000 miles. I replaced the originals at 110,000 miles and used a different brand. My Ranger works best with Motorcraft parts. I installed these cables with new connectors and the truck works great.
