My starter motor on my 2007.5 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax stopped working on Friday morning. I noticed that the starter turned slowly before finally failing. I ordered a new starter and paid an extra $15 to have it shipped to my home overnight. The starter came the next day. The exchange took me about 2.5 hours. You will need several 1/4 inch extension cables and a universal drive connector. I first tried using a 3/8 drive but the 3/8 universal joint broke due to too much pressure. It's best to use a half-inch dip. I also used a small broken rod to loosen the screws. You must disconnect the exhaust pipe from the starter to gain clearance to remove the starter. I couldn't believe how much faster the new starter cranked my engine. Now it's super fast. Now a cold start in winter becomes much easier.
