This knife arrived well packaged and in pristine condition. The slightly convex primary grinds of these Asian or Asian-influenced knives are usually very sharp. This one is no exception. It arrived razor sharp and became shockingly sharp after a few swipes. This is a cleaver, not a heavy blade against a bone or a blade against a hard-frozen meat cleaver. According to the manufacturer, its edge can be damaged with this shape. I often use pliers of this type which make it easier to cut accurately. As with most consumer products, you don't have to pay ridiculously high prices to get acceptable performance. Things either work or they don't. Based on this pass/fail utility value approach, this knife exists. With the right care and technique, it will do what it was designed to do for a long time.
