Disappointed with hardware

I think I have a used product! there was nothing to pull out (battery) and the battery was already dead! The included screws are SMALL! even size #8 or #6! The local shop doesn't even sell screws that small! I literally had to open it up and cut off some plastic to keep the screw from being so small! The supplied screws are NOT strong enough! and after all this work. No light ! because the battery died and it was SUCH A PROBLEM to put it in. I didn't feel like undoing everything for the light
