My Kenmore standard freestanding electric range is 20 years old. Now and then the cooking elements break. I have never found a replacement that fit perfectly, despite double checking with the part number in the original manual. The original elements had flat ends , as did the replacements I have bought over the years. These have rounded ends, like a closed hook but the fit in the slot they need to go in and they work. The problem is that they don't lay flat . I saw where others said they used a tool to bend them into place. I don't like that idea.I keep my heavy cast iron two burner griddle across the burners and switch from side to side. It helps to depress the elements a little, so that when I use lighter weight pots and pans they don't sit at an angle.
