If I didn't like Rembrandt I would check my head because for the last fifty six years I've only bought Rembrandts. I'm a professional portrait painter and I paint a few horses on the side. To me, these pastels are the workhorses of the pastel people. Yes there are more expensive brands but I work with something that makes its work light and a little light. Rembrandt has never let me down. I sell everything I create and thank God for teaching my art teacher never to work with cheap materials (I don't mean the price). If you work with cheap stuff, your work will look just like what you used. Rembrandt is great with his amazing balance between the material that holds the pastels together and the amount of paint used. The more color, the more vivacious your pastel will be. Drop them and get a puddle of dust. Rembrandt will never do this, and you will still have paintings alive with colour.
