I paid more than twice as much for not so nice brushes. Not only is the knot huge. It's also very densely packed. This offers better water retention than other synthetic brushes I've tried. In fact, it holds water so well that I can't shake it dry and I have to brush it gently against a dry towel before removing it. The tips of the bristles are very soft and do not need to be broken. Period. The backbone is a bit smaller than I'm used to, so it feels less stiff on the face, but still stiff enough to easily punch a bowl full of foam. I've been using this brush for about five months now. It shed a few hairs the first few times I used it and then stopped falling out completely. I have tried many synthetic and badger hair brushes and feel that these Plissoft bristles can match or exceed the performance of any brush in a similar price range. The bristles are colored to resemble badger hair and the resin handle has the appearance of faux wood. I personally think this brush would look a little better with solid colors than with a faux natural look. A brush this good should be proud of what it is, rather than trying to make it look like it's not. Due to its size, this brush can be a bit difficult to store properly. This handle is approximately 1.25 inches long at its narrowest point. Most brush holders on the market have holes closer than 1 inch and there aren't many brush holders on the market that allow you to hang them by the handle. You can hang it where the handle meets the bristles. This part is just over an inch. I could barely fit mine into the base of the oak leaf and had to push a little to get it to fit.
