This solves a problem I didn't even think existed, but newer laptops, mostly ultrabooks, don't have an optical drive as most software is downloaded and activated online can be. This year my wife and I got new Yoga laptops and our old Dells are now sitting in the closet with their DVD drives. Although we don't normally use CDs/DVDs anymore, I have a lot of leftovers from my life, music I might want to copy to mp3s, old home videos, my college projects and family photo shoots. The case looks nice and feels durable. The best part is that the cord tucks away neatly underneath. And the cable lets you connect via USB-A or USB-C without an adapter. There is an additional USB micro connector if you're connecting to an older computer that doesn't provide enough 5V power over the USB data connection. With all my Windows 10 and latest Windows 7 laptops, I plugged in the drive and it was recognized in seconds. If the drive was empty, when I double-clicked the drive in My Computer or typed d in the Run command, the drive opened and Windows offered me the drive. It read my old photo album and Office 2013 CD well for installation. One happy customer so far!
